Raining & 27 degrees.
If your planning on running I 10, between San Antonio and El paso, park it.
Not a pleasant day on the roads, and not looking good until tomorrow??
Nothing but ice for 200 miles around us.
Drive safe....

It's still below freezing here in the Las Cruces/El Paso area.
You can take the driver out of the truck but you cant take the truck out of the driver.
They just shut down I 10, most of the way.... from SA to almost El PasoOriginally Posted by PackRatTDI
I think it is still open El Paso to the Van Horn area or even as far as the 10-20 split....hey packrat got any snow yet?....I think the forecast was for a chance of snow this afternoon but nothing major.

No snow as of yet. We did get a quick "blizzard" about 2 weeks ago that gave us about 1-1/2 inches. It's basically just cold here. I call it "housecat-sleeping-in-the-heat-vent-stream" weather.Originally Posted by bulldog2036

I don't know what area of El Paso you are in, but I've been here all day, and most of the ice on my truck has finally fallen off (and it was a whopping 2-3 inches thick).Originally Posted by PackRatTDI
It was a beautiful day here, and tomorrow will be even better. Not a lick of precipitation. 8)
San Antonio should be back up and running by about noon Wed. 01/17. Schools will be closed, as will most colleges and Universities.
The roads here are not really in bad shape; the problem is that the people here have a hard enough time driving safely when it is clear and dry. Let someone hit a patch of ice and slam on their brakes, (as people around here are known to do!!) and you wind up with "Bumper Car City"!! For most other parts of the country, the weather here would just be considered cold and wet!!
No, it isn't a "dry cold", and even though it's actually in the low 30's you do feel it when you go outside!!
Read what time I posted. At 9:30AM it was still 26F.Originally Posted by Rev.Vassago

At 9:30 AM, it wasn't doing a thing in El Paso. The roads were dry, and the weather was fine.Originally Posted by PackRatTDI

I've been parked at Speedy go just north of Austin since Yesterday at 9 am, I called safty and told them they need to shut their drivers down. I'm supposed to deliver at big lots yesterday at 10 am, just 10 miles from here. Oh well and I keep have vehicles nearly hit me.. 3 have hit the truck in front of me and I just had a semi that would have got me good if I wasn't watching him.. He slid right where I was parked I had just enough time to release the brakes and stomp the pedal in reverse.. I'm just waiting for the roads to be open again. What sucked is I got up at 3:30 am yesterday so I could deliver on time.. Hurry and Wait..
Who are you kidding, they both are the SUCK.Originally Posted by Rev.Vassago

Watching our local news, and your in with a lot of other trucks sitting in TS's, off ramps, walmarts all up & down I-10 from Sonora to east of San Antonio.Originally Posted by Mtc_Is_Hell
Last night we got hit with about a half inch of freezing rain/sleet and all roads are now a skating rink... And the temps are still not forecast to go above freezing in the Texas Hill country until tomorrow??? Maybe??
Agreed. :wink:Originally Posted by tndieselgrl
There's a t/t stuck on a hill in Fort Worth right now with a temporary driver behind the wheel. They just called the FW fire department out to hook him to a chain and drag his rear end up the hill and off the road. Of course, I know this because there is NOTHING on tv but the never ending "Storm Watch"Originally Posted by Texas88

They are also calling for more rain/freezing rain over the weekend. Tomorrow morning into the afternoon is supposed to be the only "clear" day all week.
