Default Are the days of 'gettin miles' done?

I will be starting a new job in a few days, and its with a company hauling flatbed freight, home weekends. They pay mileage.

My question, IS a 3000 mile plus week still obtainable? I can from a small fleet with no qualcomm, and going to a fleet with all qualcomm.

I dont run illegally, but I also know how to do my log books

They are all flatbed, and I dont fart around on the road either. I am just very green with how qualcomm works, and wonder if I still have some room to run,or can even run 3000 miles legally.

    Thanks

I don't think that "Qual-Com vs. no Qual-Com" is the real issue here. 3000 miles per week??? Home weekends???

Do the arithmetic. 3000 miles in 5 days means averaging 600 miles per day.

Can it be done?? Sure!!! Will it happen??? Not neccessarily!!

Where will you be driving?? East of The Mississippi, with overall lower speed limits, or even West of The Mississippi in a truck governed at 65MPH would leave you pushing it a wee bit. West of the Mississippi in an ungoverned truck, with higher mileage trips?? Much more likely!!

You know how to "re-think your perspectives" when it comes to logging, so that should also work to your advantage.

In the end, the answer to your question will rest within how many miles this new company can offer you. How many hours of driving time you can fit into your logbook is one thing; but if your dispatcher has you doing a lot of short trips, that could make things a lot more difficult. Have you had the opportunity to talk to some of the drivers who drive for this company?? What feedback are you getting from them??

    BOL2U!!

It will be difficult to run 3,000 miles per week pulling a flat bed and be home every weekend. In order to get you home, you will likely run shorter runs within your region of the country. I would say that 2,500 would be closer to reality, day in and day out if you want to run 5 days and be home 2.

    I edited...cuz
    I'll post later...too much Beer and Football,,hehehe.

    But...yeah...it all depends.
My brother-in-law runs flatty-doubles of steel from Detroit to the UP and back 5 days a week, and he's pullin' 3k or so. Back and forth...that would drive me nuts...but he's home every weekend.
I run Reefer and I'm working harder than him...for sure...and make less money....ppbbbffft. sucks. :P

Sure 3000+ miles a week are possible. I do it most weeks. If my dispatcher had her way I'd be doing more, but I do like to get home to my hubby.
