    Default Dallas, Texas crackdown....

Local news last night reported that Dallas Texas Police were cracking down on truckers that were parking on streets, business parking lots, and other areas away from Truck Stops.

One "local business owner" was quoted as saying he was afraid of a "bad element" coming into the area.
    8)

Nobody mentioned however how long truckers had been parking in these areas or how come now it's a problem.

    Default Dallas Parking

If I remember right, Dallas never allowed drivers to park their trucks anywhere. I know we had a problem with letting drivers bob tail to take random drug/alcohol test, I can't remember all the details about why etc.
All DOT/Cops are cracking down on truck drivers because of the number of deaths that involve truck drivers and the drug bust lately on the Mexico boarder.

Truth hurts.. if you cannot understand why truck drivers are not allowed anywhere BUT truckstops in Dallas.. Go visit them and see the scumbags that they attract! Also look for the many broken down fences and knocked down poles and large holes in the asphalt.

Then they need to build more truckstops. Every time I go to dallas i have to park at our terminal in lancaster or find a truckstop outside the dallas area. the truckstops are always overflowing when I'm there.

I've never had trouble getting into a TS in the Dallas area. East Coast...now there is where your space gets hard to come by...night or day.

What time of day are you getting into the truck stops in Dallas? I won't even consider stopping there. It's futile.

    nrvsreck....
I'm sure you are right being a local, and I may have just always had luck.
Seems most every major City...getting into a TS is tougher and tougher. Dallas needs more TS's. I agree. Especially if the Cops are going to clamp down on Street parking. I will park on a Back Country off ramp...but I won't park on a City street...no way.

I am saying I have seen much tougher TS's to find parking...that's all. When you get up in the North East...they have very few TS...what ones that exist are as big as a torn 5 dollar bill. You really learn to wiggle your way into a TS and stack yourself in the upper bunk.

As far as Dallas itself...I've parked there only 1/2 dozen times...and I can't say I've paid particular attendtion to what time of day. I do remember going in late at night once. Couple times after I made my morning drop. Another time probably late afternoon...coming out of Uvalde...heading north.

Oh yeah, parking in the south Dallas TS's is possible, even at night, but like any other city at night, it's a waste of time. I usually try to find a little TS about an hour outside of a city and park there for the night, then get up early and beat the traffic. And yes, I've been to the NE a few times and have tried negotiating those TS's, if you want to even call them "truckstops". There really needs to be a massive increase in truckstop parking and restareas, but , here's spittin' into the wind!
