Just saw a news item on t.v showing Israeli troops opening fire upon a group of unarmed muslim women.....
What is this world coming to?
Shame on you Israel!
There can be NO defence of such abhorrent actions.

So easy for you to poo poo Israel...what about the a$#$holes using these "innocent" women as shields.....or is it that you just listen to the spin the media puts on it to make you believe that Israel just attacked these "poor innocent " women because it was a fun thing to do. Whether there is "media spin" in the article or not. No one on earth can justify or condone these actions. The U.K and people over here are usually very sympathetic to the Israeli cause(after all a lot of the problems there were caused by British foreign policy).

If they are stupid enough to run into the middle of a running battle, in an effort to protect Hamas militants who are hiding in a Mosque, then there is a pretty good chance they will get shot.

Should Israel have stopped fighting to save the women so that the Hamas militants could escape?

...well I am unsympathetic to the Muslim cause....and it is spelled "defense".......abhorrent action = muslim blowing himself up and killing Israeli women AND children....do you have a defense for that? Has occurred thousands of times more than some muslim being cast off to "paradise" by an Israeli.....I respect your opinion but this is mine...bd.

The women that were killed were fleeing the scene; That is the reason why I find it so disgusting, that troops would turn their attentions away from the mosque and pursue and fire upon them. If British soldiers acted in this way, I would be equally enraged.

No where in the story link you provided, or in any story I have seen on the news about this was it said that they were fleeing. In fact your own link says they were shot as they, "headed to a Gaza mosque to serve as human shields."

I am with bulldog on this one.

Israeli soldiers have shot and killed two Palestinian women as they headed to a Gaza mosque to serve as human shields for besieged gunmen. (Pic: Reuters)

At least ten women were wounded in the shooting which came on the third day of a major Israeli incursion into the territory.

The stand-off at the mosque has become the focus of the fighting in and around the town of Beit Hanoun.

Palestinian gunmen sought refuge there after running away from soldiers and Israeli tanks and armoured personnel carriers quickly surrounded the building.

Most of the gunmen are thought to be from the military wing of the Palestinians' ruling Hamas party.

A Hamas radio station broadcast a call to women to go to Beit Hanoun to shield militants inside a mosque and dozens of women left their homes to hurry to the building when they came under Israeli fire.

More than 20 Palestinians have been killed in the latest fighting.

No where in the story link you provided, or in any story I have seen on the news about this was it said that they were fleeing.

I agree that the women were heading towards the mosque,initially; But , once the troops opened fire, they fled. It was whilst taking flight that the two women were killed.
I,m trying like hell to download the video from ITN News that shows this.
I,m not trying to condone what the women did, as they were clearly being antagonistic towards the Israelis; However I reiterate my previous statement that should British troops act in such a manner, I would be disgusted. Its only my opinion, and I respect yours too :wink:

The current invasion of Israeli troops and tanks into the palestinian controlled area was in direct response to, and with the intent of stopping or retaliating for, the lobbing of rockets into Israel. These are REAL Weapons of Mass (and indiscriminant) Destruction and Terror. They have repeatedly warned Hamas that they would do so.

This is NO different than the U.S. invading Iraq to stop the attacks on our soil from THEIR rockets containing WMD's! And the fact that they are shooting their OWN people to stop us, is of course, expected!

Did you guys see that Hamas uses ball barrings in their war heads? The sole purpose being nothing but to kill as many people as possible.

My hat is off to Israel, they get **** on constantly by the entire world and they take it all because they want nothing more than peace.

Their army while not as big is as advanced as the United States. They could wipe the floor with all these countries if they wanted to, but they don't because they just want to get a long. Treaty after treaty they've signed and lost land all in the interest of peace. They bend over backwards yet Hamas and other terrorist organizations continue to blow up bombs on busses filled with children, and lob missles into cities.

I truely feel for the Israeli people and their country.

The women were running to their sons, as I understand it.

I think it's too easy to take sides... rather than to look at the actual events.
