    Default Dunsmuir Grade Scale (California)

About half way through my trip, all trucks where getting pulled into the weigh station. So, it was my turn to get on the scales, I was running heavy 75000+, and the light had turned red when my drives got on the platform.

Well, me in my infinate wisdom pulled around the back and was getting ready to hop out of the truck when the DOT officer asked me what a red light meant. I, being a complete idiot, said "Come around, park, and bring paper work in."

He looked at me like the idiot I was and said, no, we wanted you to stop. I, ever so cleverly stated that I was an idiot, and he instructed me to go back through the scale and head to inspection.

So, I did so, got my L1 and was on my way.

Man I was an idiot when I did that... I was also new at the time too...
I used to drive a Volvo 770, and I broke it. I used to drive a Volvo 780 and I broke it. I now drive a Peterbilt 379 and am trying not to break it

Great story- of course keeping track of all the different scale stuff is hard sometimes. Like when you get the green light in Arizona (Prepass) but those signs on the freeway say you have to enter- what do you do? I keep going.

Anyway, I'll remember next time I'm at the Shasta scale... red means STOP. Haha!

Yeah, wish the different states could get their stuff together. I run in Texas where a flashing light on the scale sign means that the scale is open and you have to go in, in Louisiana a flashing light on the scale sign means the scale is closed and you can go past.

Guess what I did when I saw the flashing light

Explained it to the nice officer, he let me go and informed me of the La. procedures.
