Yeah, what was your J.B Hunt truck number again?
Yeah, what was your J.B Hunt truck number again?
It was a BS story from the very beginning
That story just doesn't add up, but it's your story, tell the way you want.
I find it hard to believe that pete got up to 122 mph, I had mine at 97 once (in a controlled enviroment dont everyone jump on my ass) and that poor little cat it previously had was rattlin its ass off
The fastest I ever go a truck to go in a 'controlled environment' was 102 in a 1991 single axle Volvo with a M11 Cummins set at 250hp

My computer tells me that if you wanted to go 122 mph in a tractor trailer, you will need in excess of 1,000 hp to do it.
Even if you could get that HP out of an engine, unless your transmission, universals and drive shafts where made out of Titanium, I doubt they would not handle the power.
Now, that being said, I did see the result of 110 mph once.
It was an Aerodynamic Kenworth at the bottom of a 8 mile 8% grade. He topped the hill in 8th, popped it into 8 th over, burned his brakes to the ground, slipped it into Mexican Overdrive to save the engine and then drove past 3 runaway lanes before he could not negotiate a 40 mph corner.
The trailer flipped over the guard rails which flipped the tractor on its side. That is what saved it from going over the same 500 ft cliff that the trailer went over.
After sliding close to 700 ft on its side it came to rest in the middle of the road.
He was from Ohio I think.
He walked away from it, without a scratch.
I don't think he came back.
I think he meant 120KPH :P

120 kmph....hell, even my Ford 9000 with a 350 cat could do that.
I think all trucks can do 120 kph and defininetly downhill.
edit
Our Mercedes in Iraq would top end at around 120 but that was It
hey yooper when i got my truck they hadnt got to it yet to turn it down so thats why i can go 75 it will do 85 but thats between me and you so dont tell anybody
Whats it pay not to make a call to werner :wink:Originally Posted by Smooth Operator

I'm with Sanchez-HOW MUCH
When i've got mine from the dealer, factory setting was 80mph on cruise, and 85mph top.
When i was servicing it at CAT dealer, i asked them to take out any limits on a top speed, so now it shows 127mph, but i believe it's a top speed for the engine, but would require different gearing for the truck to go that fast.
Pessimist,- is just well informed optimist!
I run 89 all the time from Flagstaff to Utah... It gets very tempting out there at night to hammerdown....
Unfortunately, my Freight has never been over 90... I don't have the balls.... I rarely run more that 10-12 over. As they said... in many places, 15 over will put you in a heap o' trouble....
